Fatty substances are the root cause of higher cholesterol levels in the human body. Proper control of cholesterol is an effective strategy for better health. LDL cholesterol must be brought down to acceptable levels for control of cholesterol in the body. Cholesterol plaque formation is controlled by lower level of cholesterol and consequently the chances of getting heart attack and stroke are minimized.

Choosing the right and balanced foods improve health considerably and keeps the body weight under check. Consuming foods richer in fiber or starch controls cholesterol to a large extent and keeps the body weight under check at all times.

Recent studies have revealed that consuming some foods can actually reduce the level of cholesterol in the body and can be actively associated in diet foods. One such substance is Cholesterol Lowering Margarine available in the market which does not affect the good cholesterol but affects the levels of bad LDL cholesterol beneficial to the health of the body. Consumption of such substances can actively aid in the fight to control cholesterol.

Nuts like almonds and walnuts are also useful in controlling cholesterol levels as they contain high amounts of monounsaturated or polyunsaturated fatty acids. Oats and barley also play a key role in lessening cholesterol level because of the presence of Beta Glucan, a highly soluble fiber that helps controlling cholesterol.

The omnipresent fruits and vegetables like apples, citrus, berries, carrots, apricots, leafy vegetables and sweet potatoes have high amounts of soluble fiber and pectin that help in controlling cholesterol to the maximum extent.

Olive oil helps to lower cholesterol as it is a mono unsaturated fatty acid. Extra virgin olive oil is comparatively better than the other olive oils available in the market.

FDA has recognized the potential of soy protein in controlling cholesterol and in the fight against heart disease. Soy based milk shakes are found to be more effective than the medications for weight loss and act effectively in lowering cholesterol and triglycerides levels. Such naturally occurring substances control cholesterol effectively without spending much on the medications available.

Researchers like Dr. James W. Anderson of Kentucky University have found the extensive uses of soy even though it may not have much effect on the waist line as compared to other nutrition plans available in the market for implementation. Recent studies have demonstrated that liquid meal replacements are also effective to control weight and cholesterol level. Dr. James W. Anderson and Dr. Lars H. Hole have conducted a study between soy based liquid meal replacements and milk based liquid meal replacements for weight loss over a period of 12 weeks. The soy group of people was given scan diet daily with fruits and vegetables where as people in the milk group where given slim fast with fruits, vegetables, chicken or lean meat in sufficient quantities. The participants in the study were asked to note down their tolerance level to the meal replacement, the amount of food consumed and the physical activities undertaken by them. The study revealed that the participants lost about 8.5% of their initial body weight and the amount of liquid shakes consumed is less in case of soy group when compared to the milk group. This study clearly brings out the fact that weight loss is more by consuming liquid meal replacements as against the normal medications available in the market for weight loss. The soy group also showed a lower cholesterol level and reduction in triglyceride level as against the milk group which showed no change.

The above study by Dr. Anderson conclusively proves that soy protein is good at lowering cholesterol level along with weight loss, with the milk based shakes effective in weight loss and tolerated more by all people.

-----
Stay healthy and fit? Japan is famous for its Kobe beef and the people of Japan eat this beef just like sushi.

Kobe Beef comes from the breed of cattle called the Wagyu and Kobe Is one of the famous regions of Japan from where Wagyu beef originates. Before the 20th century eating meat of four legged animals was prohibited in Japan as there was no doubt a great influence of the Buddhist traditions which restricted the eating of meat and also other cultural and other influences like the draught conditions in times of famine which restricted the eating of beef.

For quite sometime the Japanese lived on rice wheat and the seafood that they ate with chopsticks though the taboo on meat was lifted for quite some time but still the people didn't eat it as usually. It was the start of the 20thcentury when people started eating it and it became very common and was very famous and known through out the world as the Japanese beef.

The Western cuisines has also reached the younger generation of Japan but the people still like the traditional way of eating Kobe beef that is in thin slices ,cooked in a traditional manner and eaten with hashi.

After the development and mechanization of the rice cultivation the beef was more commonly eaten as large number of draught cattle were fattened and slaughtered. And because of the development and economic conditions the people were able to afford the luxury of eating beef.

This famous beef traditionally comes from the Wagyu cattle. Wagyu is a combination of two Japanese's words' Wa 'is the old term used for Japan and' gyu' means beef. So this sure is the correct name for this beef.

There are four known breeds of Japanese cattle that produce this beef. The breed of black cattle is said to produce beef with a high degree of marbling of fat. And this is the reason that this breed of cattle is on the increase in Japan.

In order to protect the Japanese beef Industry the government has imposed laws against any living Japanese Wagyu cattle. But later on four Wagyu cattle's male and female were imported to US and from their onwards they started breeding these cattle.

Today most of the Kobe Beef is bred and produced from California and Australia. In California it is bred in the land that is that is less expensive and the cattle is bred and fed according to the instruction and the supervision of Kobe beef. But when the cattle is ready to slaughter and is fully bred it is sent back to Japan for the final breeding and feeding and then it is slaughtered in Japan.

And this Japanese Beef is famous throughout the world for its superb quality and taste. People love to eat the Kobe Steaks cooked in the traditional way that the Japanese used to eat.

Kobe Beef Store - Kobe Beef

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Daniel_J_Liptak
